The bar chart compares the percentage of different choices of the postgraduate students after their graduation in 2013 and 2018. It is clear that a majority of students went straight to work after graduation whether in 2013 or 2018, accounting for 68.1% and 60.7% respectively. Large as this proportion is, significantly fewer students immediately looked for jobs in 2018 compared with that in 2013. More students pursued further education than before, and this group consisted of 26.3% in 2013 and 34% in 2018. The smallest share of students started their own business. But in 2018, the proportion in this group was twice as large as that in 2013.
This figure above can be associated with the recent changes of college students’ different choices after graduation. Firstly, hunting for jobs, though being a dominant option still, became less popular, due to the fierce competition in the contemporary society. Consequently, this fact gave room to other after-graduation options. So a considerable part of students sought for higher education backgrounds, in order to excel in their future jobs, presumably to stand out if possible. Finally, very few, but some indeed, found the hard way to success in entrepreneurship, I say. As we know, this road to start a career is filled with huge setbacks and enormous stress, and we see that more of them dare to try it because they believe they can prove themselves.
The decision after graduation can indeed exert a tremendous influence on a person in his or her whole life. Therefore, it is suggested that this very decision should not be made lightly, and we should seek for counsel from the elderly. Only in this way can we make decisions that benefit us in a long run.
Dear Professor Smith,
I am writing this letter in purpose of informing you of the relevant details about the debate on the theme of city traffic.
I am convinced that it is appropriate to define the topic of the debate as “The impact of economic development on city traffic”. As is well known, the contemporary China is characterized by its economic booming, which makes it possible for a considerable number of families to afford a car. However, the increasing number of vehicles come traffic jams. Hence, it is of vital necessity to hold a relevant debate to arouse folks’ awareness of green commuting.
The debate, scheduled at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday (Mar. 16), will be held at the Building No.2 behind the Main Hall. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
